SSGC marks the start of Ramadan with a befitting Istaqbal-e-Ramadan

The Istaqbal-e-Ramadan session has been an integral part of SSGC’s event calendar for more than a decade. The session is convened every year to mark the start of the blessed month of Ramadan.  On April 1, 2022, the Istaqbal-e-Ramadan edition was convened by SSGC’s Corporate Communication Department in the Company’s Head Office Auditorium. A large number of Company employees participated in the event that featured reputed Islamic scholar   Mufti Mohammad Sohail Raza Amjadi and naat khawans Mohammad Faisal Hasan Naqshbandi and Mahmood-ul-Hasan Ashrafi.  The event was also marked by the presence of wellness trainer and media celebrity Yogi Wajahat.

Mufti Amjadi delivered an enlightening speech on the infinite blessings of Ramadan. He said that Ramadan does not just provide us an opportunity to fast but is also a time for spiritual reflection and introspection.  Mufti Amjadi implored on the audience to donate profusely to charitable causes during the month. Earlier, naat khawans Mohammad Faisal Hasan Naqshbandi and Mahmood-ul-Hasan Ashrafi took the audience to an entirely different spiritual ground with haunting renditions of naats.  An audio recording of Salman A. Siddiqui, Head of Corporate Communications was played in which he reminiscenced about a time when Ramadan was seen as a month-long festival in which everyone participated with unprecedented enthusiasm and gusto.

In his short remarks, Yogi Wajahat stressed that  Ramadan has plenty of health benefits to offer for one’s body and gave some useful tips to the participants for keeping themselves fit during and after the fasting hours.  There was not a dry eye in the house as Mufti Amjadi delivered collective dua (prayers) at the conclusion of his brilliant sermon.

The program was adroitly conducted by Mohammad Ali Gohar, an ex-SSGC employee.  As a customary gesture, a packet of dates was presented to each participant. Bouquets and Company giveaways were also presented to Mufti Amjadi, naat khawans Mr. Naqshbandi and Mahmood-ul-Hasan Ashrafi as well as Mr. Gohar.
