SSGC inks MoU with Transparency International Pakistan

NEWSSSGC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) on April 1, 2013 in order to ensure complete transparency in its procurement processes.

The MoU will facilitate the gas utility in availing TIP’s expertise as an observer by adopting best practices while following the rules of the Government. The MoU was inked by TIP’S Chairman Sohail Muzaffar and SSGC’s MD Zuhair Siddiqui.

The signing of this MoU will make SSGC even more conscious and mindful about maintaining transparency in all aspects of procurement processes, the MD said.

The signing ceremony was held at the SSGC’s Head Office in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, MD, SSGC said that the gas utility shares a common vision with TIP of a corruption-free Pakistan and reiterated
the Company’s commitment to address its observations promptly. The signing of this MoU will make SSGC even more conscious and mindful about maintaining transparency in all aspects of procurement processes, the MD said.

In his address, TIP Chairman said that of late, apart from the private sector, public sector organizations and schemes such as PIA, NADRA, Benazir Income Support Program and Pakistan Steel Mills have associated themselves with TIP through MoUs to ensure transparency in all aspects of their procurement processes. Mr. Muzaffar hoped that whatever advice TIP will give to SSGC, it will be taken positively. The TIP
Chairman reiterated that his organization strives for honesty, openness and transparency.

Senior members and officials of TIP and SSGC including Adil Gilani, Consultant, TIP and Yusuf J. Ansari, SGM (Corporate and Legal Affairs) were also present to witness the signing.
