ISLAMABAD:\u00a0<\/strong>Pakistan\u2019s second liquefied natural gas (LNG) import handling terminal, set up by Pakistan GasPort Consortium Limited (PGPC) at Port Qasim where work was suspended for a few days after a leak, will resume gas supply to the national system by Friday evening.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the terminal operator, operations at the recently inaugurated terminal had been suspended for a few days after a leak in an insulation joint connecting the terminal to the pipeline infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The leak was promptly plugged, the joint was replaced and the system was being repressurised, it said and denied that there were faults in the jetty and marine works or the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) or the sub-sea section of the pipeline. \u201cThere was no blast as a news report alleged,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

In the terminal, about half a billion dollars has been invested by PGPC in the jetty and marine works, by Norway\u2019s BW Group in the brand new and state-of-the-art FSRU and by Fauji Oil Terminal and Distribution Company (Fotco) in the pipeline infrastructure from the jetty to the national gas grid.<\/p>\n

The terminal was inaugurated on November 20 and it received first LNG cargo on November 24.<\/p>\n
