On Sindh Hight Court’s recommendation, the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of Pakistan, has ordered establishment of a Special Gas Utility Court for the entire Karachi Division. SSGC had earlier requested Chief Justice Sindh High Court for establishing a single gas utility court\u00a0 in Karachi for hearing theft and recovery cases more effectively.

Presently SSGC is contesting its gas theft and recovery cases in 5 different District and Session Courts in Karachi, where priority to gas theft and recovery cases are fairly low and only a few hours in a day per week are given to gas theft and recovery prosecution.

The Special Gas Utility Court will now hear gas theft and recovery cases only, all through the week. This major development will greatly facilitate SSGC’s task of creating deterrence and controlling gas theft.
