{"id":113867,"date":"2023-08-16T09:37:59","date_gmt":"2023-08-16T04:37:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ssgc.com.pk\/web\/?p=113867"},"modified":"2023-08-16T09:37:59","modified_gmt":"2023-08-16T04:37:59","slug":"ssgcs-wins-independence-cup-featuring-energy-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ssgc.com.pk\/web\/?p=113867","title":{"rendered":"SSGC\u2019s Wins Independence Cup Featuring Energy Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Soon after the flag hoisting ceremony at SSGC\u2019s head office building on August 14, 2023, two sporting events kicked off to supplement the celebrations of 77<sup>TH<\/sup> Independence Day of Pakistan, namely Karachi to Gharo, Independence Day Open Cyle Race 2023 for both Men and Women and the 1<sup>ST<\/sup> SSGC Oil and Gas Sector Tape Ball Cricket Independence Day Cup 2023 and<\/p>\n<p>In the cricket tournament staged for the first time ever by the gas utility, SSGC beat PARCO to win the Cup as the boys convincingly chased PARCO\u2019s target of 107 in six overs with two overs to spare. Qazi Nasar displayed a standout performance in a 10-wicket win with a blistering knock of 60 runs of just 20 balls supported by Raja Iftikhar who scored 32 runs. The latter being judged as the man of the match in the semis against PPL, produced a memorable innings of 39 runs in mere 10 balls which proved to be a decider. This day-long tournament featured Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Shell Pakistan, Pakistan Arab Refinery Company (PARCO), SSGC-LPG (Pvt.) Limited (SLL) along with two teams each from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and hosts SSGC.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament was played at SSGC\u2019s Karachi Terminal Sports ground with a primary objective to cultivate friendly ties and camaraderie between the energy sector companies, participating in the tournament. Supporters of all the teams\u2019 thronged the cricket arena in large numbers right from the morning and well into the night time to watch the pool matches, semis and final match.
