SSGC deserves praise for wholeheartedly contributing towards the national agenda for poverty alleviation by improving literacy level around its operational areas.
This was stated by chief guest Syed Amir Haider Shah, eminent personality of Sindh, while speaking at a simple ribbon cutting ceremony held on December 12, 2007 at the premises of the newly-renovated Government Primary Masjid School in Sann, Taluqa Manjhand situated in Jamshoro district.
The chief guest appreciated SSGC's CSR initiative by virtue of which renovation of Govt. Primary Masjid School, Taluqa Manjhand and Govt. Boys/Girls Primary School, Sann was undertaken. He said that SSGC assisted these schools get a new lease of life and lauded the Company in their efforts of providing the students with uniforms, shoes, stationery, electric coolers and furniture items. On behalf of the community, he thanked the Company for creating a conducive learning environment, ensuring full cooperation in carrying out similar community projects in Sann.
Speaking on the occasion, Engr. Naeem-ur-Rehman Akhoond, the then SGM (MS), SSGC said, "Our Company fully understands its obligation in supporting the community that it operates in. In fact, our theme 'Say yes to education for all' encapsulates the whole objective behind spreading mass-scale quality education." He informed the audience consisting of teachers, school children and community leaders that SSGC thoroughly carries out need assessment and targets those schools which were either in totally ramshackled state or suffer profusely from dire shortage of basic amenities.
He highlighted some of the recent school projects that the Company's CSR team along with its engineers had implemented in the recent past in Jacobabad and Badin and thanked the local leaders and the citizens of the areas for their wholehearted cooperation.
