SSGC has loaned two fully equipped buses in addition to providing a Mitsubishi high roof coach to the University of Balochistan (UoB) at the request of Brig (Retd.) Agha Ahmed Gul, the Vice Chancellor, so that transport difficulties faced by the students of the university could be mitigated.
The university had been in dire need of transport facility after a mob attacked the University's transport fleet in August 2006 setting it on fire.
Since the majority of the students of the University come from modest backgrounds and therefore cannot afford their own transport, they found it hard to commute, drastically affecting the overall UoB attendance, as a result. SSGC immediately came to the rescue and made its contribution by loaning two brand new buses recently bought for its own P&C department for a period of six months while one Mistibushi high-roof coach was given on a permenant basis.
The vehicles' handing over ceremony was held at the Administrative block of the University. Present at the occasion was Brigadier (Retd.) Agha Ahmed Gul, Vice Chancellor UoB, Captain (R) Muhammad Arif, GM Administrative Services, SSGC, ex-Senator, Syed Fasih Iqbal and other senior faculty members of the UoB. The documents formalizing this arrangement were signed by the Assistant Registrar, UoB and GM (AS), SSGC.
Brig. (Retd.) Agha Gul thanked SSGC's management for their timely cooperation. He expressed gratitude to the MD, SSGC for the provision of the transport facility at the University.
Captain (Retd.) M. Arif, speaking on the occasion reiterated SSGC's commitment to develop Balochistan as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. He said that SSGC was pleased to facilitate the UoB as it would serve the cause of education in the province.
