A media briefing was held in SSGC's head office to apprise newspersons of the current KESC's outstandings (receivables) position with SSGC and measures taken by the gas utility in this regard.

The briefing, held on July 28, 2011, was addressed by Zuhair Siddiqui, DMD (Corporate Services), SSGC and Company's spokesman. Shahid H. Jafri, CFO and Nasreen Hussain, DGM (CCD) were also present on the occasion. The DMD categorically dispelled the impression that SSGC had totally cut off its gas supplies to KESC. In fact, he said, the Company reduced supplies by 60 mmcfd due to KESC incapacity to settle dues with the gas utility which has affected SSGC's financial position. Mr. Siddiqui said that SSGC is committed to ensure that Karachites get uninterrupted power supply yet KESC's incapacity to settle its outstandings has forced it to reduce gas supplies.
